Do Kittens Lose Their Teeth. Most cat owners wont even notice a kitten has lost his tooth it is often lost in the home or swallowed. When a kitten reaches the age of 4 months all permanent incisors burst and after a month when it is 5 months old 4 canines will get to their teeth. At 6 months of age permanent teeth may start to replace the old ones. At around 2 weeks of age the little incisors at the front of the mouth begin to show through the gums.
By their third or fourth months kittens begin losing these first teeth which are replaced by time theyre 8 or 9 months old with the permanent adult set of 30. However this is not a hard and fast rule. Simply put the baby teeth do not become completely decayed or worn down to the enamel as the older teeth do. Kittens teeth begin to fall out around three months of age. By the time the kitten is eight or nine months old she will have all 30 of her adult teeth which ideally should keep. Just like humans cats have two sets of teeth.
And in my experience the answer is simple the baby teeth dont properly wear down to the enamel so they fall out as the adult teeth appear.
